Common Application Releases 2013-2014 Essay Prompts

The Common Application has released the essay prompts for its 2013-2014 application.  Juniors may want to take a look at these so they can start thinking bout the topics.

The SAT exam will be given for the final time during the 2012-2013 school year on May 4.  The deadline for registration is April 5.

GIRLS’ LEADERSHIP WORLDWIDE

 GIRLS’ LEADERSHIP WORLDWIDE 

Now in its 16^th year, GLW is an interactive, diverse, and transformational summer program for young women who are poised to become great leaders in their communities and beyond. GLW has attracted young women from the US to France to Jordan.

GLW is open to young women currently in 9th or 10th grade.

Girls Leadership Worldwide prepares girls to be principled and socially conscious global leaders. During the 9-day program they have the opportunity to…

·         Find their voices and learn how to speak up;

·         Connect with other like-minded girls in a supportive, judgment-free zone;

·         Build their self confidence and develop a more positive self image;

·         Participate in a program that enables them to address issues and concerns important to them;

·         Learn the skills that will help them reach their personal goals, and

·         Develop strong relationships with girls and women from around the world.

·         Be one of the recipients of the Meera Gandhi Women & Girls’ Leadership Award, which comes with a $500.00 honorarium.

Please note that applications must be postmarked by 3/15/13. Program dates for the two 9-day residential sessions are July 6 – 14, 2013 and July 20 – 28, 2013. 2013 IVY LEAGUE COLLEGE VISIT TOUR

 
10^th and 11^th graders are reaching the point in their lives, where they are reading brochures on dozens of colleges and universities they may wish to attend.
They are sometimes overwhelmed in the whole choosing process. We have made the lives of these students as well as their counselors so much easier with college familiarization tours. You and your  students, can actually see the college, talk with staff members and students enrolled there. The students come back from the trip (in most cases) then knowing the institution they want to attend.  The colleges listed below are a sampling of a college familiarization trip.   You can add, delete or alter the itinerary according to your students interest in particular colleges in universities.
